Chapter Philanthropy

Our local philanthropy is St. Jude Up til Dawn benefiting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. St. Jude is a hospital that turns no family away regardless of race or religion, while not charging the family for anything. Our fundraising efforts help to support the $2 million per day cost to run the hospital. Up til Dawn is a program for college kids to fundraise and compete against other teams of students to support the kids of St. Jude. At the end of the year long fundraiser, a celebratory night is thrown. This night is used to show the purpose of St. Jude and congratulate the students on their hard work. We compete in teams to stay Up til Dawn. This resembles how some patients may not get sleep at night due to anxiety, nausea, or other issues they may face while being treated at St. Jude. Sigma Sigma Sigma supports by not only participating, but having many members on the St. Jude Up til Dawn Executive Board. This year we have 4 members on the Board, holding offices of Public Relations, Social Media, Fundraising and Executive Director.

Our national philanthropy is the Sigma Sigma Sigma Foundation which includes Robbie Paige Memorial. We have a trip planned for October 23-25, 2015 which will allow all of our sisters a chance to experience what we serve. This weekend is used for sisterhood bonding but also for service. We spend time in the Children's Playroom which allows us time with the patients. For many sisters, this will be their first experience of RPM.
